And then what? What's the next great leap in humans' quest for the secrets of the universe?
When it comes to the near future scientific exploration, there are a few areas of the solar system that will be receiving some special attention.
First off, there's Venus, a planet which was a relative paradise with oceans and a pleasant atmosphere. Something went terribly wrong there a few billion years ago, and NASA has scheduled a series of missions to explore what exactly is going on there.
At the other end are the gas giants. Several of the satellites of Jupiter and Saturn are covered in thick sheets of ice, and underneath that ice sit oceans of liquid water. NASA has missions planned to investigate those mysterious worlds, hunting for any signs of possible life hidden deep within.
As for us humans, Mars is certainly the grand prize in the coming decades. If we have the adequate drive and funds, we can establish a semi-permanent presence on the red planet, keeping crews working and studying in person on the Martian surface. The other planets of our solar system are not so suitable for people to settle on. Mercury is too close to the Sun for comfort and too far away from the Earth.
Over the coming decades, humans expect to see a rise of "space hotels", set up for visiting tourists and scientific explorations. Naturally, turning the space rock into a habitat for humans is not very practical considering our current level of technological maturity, but in my best estimation, it's the next easiest thing to accomplish after the Moon and Mars, of course.
Children should do housework. That's a controversial(有争议的) idea, though not everyone will admit it. A few parents will say that their children are too busy for housework. Many more of us assign(分派) housework, or say we believe in them, but the housework just doesn't get done.
That's a problem. For starters, housework is good for kids. Being a part of the routine work of running a household helps children develop an awareness of the needs of others, while at the same time contributing to their emotional well-being.
One small study, done over a period of 25 years, found that the best predictor(预测) for young adults' success in their mid-20s was whether they participated in household tasks at age 3 or 4. Those early shared responsibilities extended to a sense of responsibility in other areas of their lives.
But for all that their help matters, few kids are doing much around the house at all. In a survey of 1,000 American adults, 75 percent said they believed regular housework made kids "more responsible". Yet while 82 percent reported having had regular housework growing up, only 56 percent of those with children said they required them to do housework.
Sports and homework are not get-out-of-housework-free cards. The goal, after all, is to raise adults who can balance a caring role in their families and communities with whatever lifetime achievement goals they choose. Housework teaches that balance.
What should you do when getting children to do housework? Accept no excuses. Don't worry if you must repeat yourself again and again. If you're spending more time getting the child to do this job than it would take to do it yourself, then you're doing it right. Can a payment help? Maybe. But if you're trying to teach kids to share the responsibility of a home, paying them for routine housework is not the right message.

Everyone wants to succeed in their life, don't they? Even as a teenager, you can achieve success in your life; it really isn't that hard.
Do well in school. No matter how boring it is now, education will help you be a productive member in society. Try your best for excellence in school;listen to the teachers, do your homework, study, and get good grades. School sets you up on the right track!

It was December 30. My friend Mel Olsen and I1 to climb 11,250-foot Mount Hood in Oregon. I loved the2 of overcoming something bigger than me.

One day, Miss White's impatient voice broke into his daydreams. "Steve!" Startled(吓了一跳), he turned to look at her. "Pay attention!" She began to go over the test results. "You all did pretty well," she told the class, "except for one boy, and it breaks my heart to tell you this, but. . . " She hesitated, pinning Steve to his seat with a sharp stare. "The smartest boy in the seventh grade is failing my class!"
After that, Steve still couldn't do his homework. "Just try it," Miss White said one day. "Steve! Please! I care about you!" Wow! Suddenly, Steve got it! Someone cared about him? Someone, so beautiful and perfect, cared about him?! Steve went home from school, thoughtful that afternoon and decided to work hard.
