Hi, my name is Paco and I'm from Bogotá in Colombia (哥伦比亚). I'm eleven years old and I go to San Cristobal Secondary School. Bogotá is the capital (首都) of Colombia, and over 7,000,000 people live there.
I get up at 5:30 in the morning and have a shower. Then I have breakfast with my family. I have one sister and one brother. My sister is nineteen. My brother is sixteen and he goes to the same school as me. School starts at 7:30, so we leave our house at 6:30. We always walk to school.
We study in the morning and break (休息) time is at 9:30. I love break times! I usually play football with my friends then.
I don't have lunch at school because school finishes at 11:30. That's when I go to the park with my friends to play football again! My mum comes to the park and walks home with me.
We have lunch at 1:30 p.m. at home. I love Colombian food— my mum cooks really good corn (玉米) bread. We eat them with soup or meat. We have mango juice too— my favorite!
We all know that it's important to exercise (运动),but we don't always want to do it. Some people think that exercising every day is too difficult, or that it takes too long. They think they don't have time to exercise every day.
Well, here's some good news! If you exercise for only ten minutes a day, your body and your brain (大脑) will feel better! In fact, some scientists think that ten minutes of exercise every day can make you think more quickly!
Exercise isn't the only thing that's rood for your brain. Scientists think that staying outside is also great for your brain and your body. They know that your brain relaxes when you're in a natural place. Some scientists think people should stay in an outdoor place more.
____▲____ When you laugh (笑), if you laugh out loud, your brain gets more blood (血液) than when you're sad! Your body can feel better for 45 minutes after a good laugh!
Think about it. Are you taking good care of your brain? Do you do enough (足够的) exercise? Do you have enough outdoor time? Do you laugh enough?
Music shows are very popular around the world. And some shows, like Matilda and Harry Potter, have child actors (演员). So what is their life (生活) like?
Child actors need to study, but this doesn't mean (意味着) they go to school. Because they work at night, often until late. It's difficult for them to go to school every day. So they often study at home. Many child actors in New York study at an online (网上的) school. Let's ask some child actors in a New York show about it!
Gabbi says, "I watch the lessons, and I can talk to the teachers online. I also have a "learning helper'— my mom! She helps me study and do my homework. Now, I'm studying six subjects."
"It's not easy," says Daya. "There is a show most afternoons and one every night, so it's difficult to do all the work the teachers give us and get good marks. I am not in every show. Two other girls play the same part as me, and that way we al have time for schoolwork and other things — I'm taking dancing and singing lessons. The other girls aren't doing that, but they love playing computer games and reading."
Online learning is also good because child actors sometimes move around. Daya says, "My play isn't showing in New York now. We're touring(巡演) the US and Canada, and we're studying for school tests. We stay in each city for a week, in a hotel. It's a great life! We love it!"
SUMMER CAMP(夏令营)
Every year over 11,000,000 students go to summer camps in the USA. They are very popular because there is a lot of fun. There are different kinds of camps. Here are some of them. Which do you like best?
Our two—week camp is a good way to know the "Land of the Midnight Sun". You'll go sea kayaking, boating and camping and you'll learn about the history of the Arctic Circle (北极圈) and the animals that live here.
Join other music lovers for two weeks of musical fun. You'll learn a lot during the day in classes with great teachers. Then every evening you'll enjoy a party by the sea.
Learn new skills this summer at the University of Colorado. You will learn everything you want to know about computers and use them to help you study and play.
A camp for the one who likes sports. We train hard every day, and at night you'll be very tired! But you'll have fun and play lots of new sports for the first time.
Do you love horses? Do you know how to ride? In this summer camp, you'll get your own horse and learn all about how to take care of it. At the end of this holiday you'll be a good horse rider and you won't want to leave!
