One day I was shopping in the supermarket when I heard a young voice. "Mom, come here! There's a lady here like my1!" The mother ran to her son, then she turned to me and said sorry.
I 2, "It's okay." Then I talked to the boy, "Hi, I'm Darry Kramer. How are you?"
The boy looked at me from head to toe. Then he asked, "Are you a little mommy?"
"Yes, I have a son," I answered.
"3are you so little?" he asked.
"It's the way I was born," I said. "Some people are little. Some are tall. I'm just not going to grow any bigger. "4 I answered his questions, I shook the boy's hand, and left.
My life as a little person is filled 5 stories like that. I talk to children and explain (解释)why I look different from6 mothers. I was born a dwarf (侏儒). I am very short and stand 114 cm tall. However, I did all the things other 7 did when I was growing up. I didn't realize (意识到) how 8 I was until I started school. New students would always stare (盯着看) at me as I tried to 9 the school bus stairs (阶梯). Some kids even laughed at me. Then I began to 10 the first day of school each year.
I'm 37 now, and the stares have not changed when I grow older. People are still 11 when they see me driving.
12, I learned to smile and accept the fact that I would be noticed my whole life.

One day, a poor man walked past a restaurant. He had only one piece of bread to eat. There was a large pot of soup on the table. The poor man held his bread over the soup, so the steam (蒸汽) from the soup went into the bread, and gave it a good smell. Then he ate the bread.
The restaurant owner was very angry. He asked the man for money in exchange for the steam from the soup. The poor man had no money, so the restaurant owner took him to a judge(法官).
The judge took some money from his pocket. He held the coins next to the restaurant owner's ear, and shook them, so that the restaurant owner could hear the sound of the coins.
"What was that?" asked the restaurant owner.
"That was the payment for you," answered the judge.
"What do you mean? That was just the sound of coins!" said the restaurant owner.
"The sound of the coins is the payment for the steam of the soup," answered the judge. "Now go back to your restaurant."
Can you tell one animal from another? We think you need to learn the skill. As wildlife(野生动物) experts, we have special ways to know each of them. Usually we look for features(特征) of animals.
It's not so hard. If you know how, you will probably find your pet dog or cat when it is among several others.
We can look for different features of each kind of animal. Zebras have different black and white patterns(式样). For African wild dogs, we use the shape and color of the splotches(斑点). For giraffes, we use the pattern of splotches on the neck.
In fact, we learn the skill to study how animals grow in groups. Which animals are the parents? Which animal is the boss? Which animals are new to the area? We must know all of these while working in the wild.
A community becomes better when people love it enough to improve it. Helping your community makes life better for your family and other people who live in it.
Save energy(能源) and water. This will be good for your community's development. Turn off your lights when you're not using them and take shorter showers.
Do some research. Maybe there's a river in your community that's so polluted that no one can swim there. Whatever it is, work out what needs to be solved where you live.
Choose a way to help. Once you've found out the problem, decide how you can fix it, such as through the local radio or the TV station to report the problem.
To achieve these, you'll probably need some help and money. Ask around to make sure who is as excited to make a difference as you are.
Volunteer for a group. Sharing your time is an excellent way to improve your community, and to keep good relationships with your community members.
I've always been interested food. My family lived on a farm in Lincolnshire. (说实在的) my mother made fantastic British food and her roast beef was out of this world. I (过去常常) love going down to the kitchen and watching her work, and I learned a lot her. I realized that I wanted to be a cook I was about 12. As other boys c to do sports, my choice was helping with cooking at home. By the time I was 15, I had decided to be a c. H, I knew my parents wouldn't allow me to be a cook. I had to tell them about it slowly. I told them that I wanted to take a cooking course for fun, and stayed for a month in Torquay. I enjoyed it so much I couldn't(推迟) telling my parents any longer, so I brought the course up one night after dinner. And then my father asked me . I explained that cooking was like painting a picture or writing a book. Every meal was a work of creation. I could see that my father [ dɪsə'ɡri:d]. (令我惊讶的是)，he was not angry. He just looked at me and smiled. My mother kissed me(像往常一样). I never gave up! And now I have my own restaurant, and it goes well. I can cook m better than before.
